CARD N°7

Vocation of laity in Church and in the world

èChristifideles laici (December 30, 1988) Nos. 15,16,17

Questions

a) What is my understanding of the Church?

b) What is the Church’s mission in the world?

c) My vocation as a lay person and my vocation as a lay MSC? Are they two different vocations?

d) What is my layMSC's vocation in the world? How I see my role in the heart of the world?

For further development of the theme

- Different images of Church (Lumen Gentium, No. 6): People of God, Body of Christ...

- Image of the vine (Christifideles laici, Nos. 1,2,3): "Go also into my vineyard..."
(Matt. 20, 3-4). Jules Chevalier (Daily Reading for March 24)

- Do not forget the texts of Fr. Jules Chevalier (image of a bouquet of flowers or
of a choir, "Le Sacré-Coeur de Jésus, chapters IV and III).

- ... to give the world a heart: for Fr. Jules Chevalier, devotion to the Heart of Christ was the remedy for the evils of his time (cf. MSC Constitutions, p. 22): "Two evils plague our unfortunate century: indifference and egoism.
We need an efficacious remedy which can be applied to these two evils.
This remedy is found in the Sacred Heart of Jesus which is nothing but love and charity."
What are the evils of the world today? Can the Heart of Christ be a remedy for
this today? How can we, as lay MSC, apply this remedy today? Are we ourselves "remedy" for the world?
