CHEVCOM 2008...

1.Chevcom could be a project of the Lay MSC/Chevalier Family Lay.

2.Chevcom concerns the Chevalier Family ministry through print, audiovisual media and through cybercommunication - parallel to the media ministry of Fr Chevalier in his time.  'Media, gifts of God', John Paul II.

3.Chevcom is not a project for communication within the Chevalier Family but concerns our outreach in mission (although, clearly, there will be some overlap at times).

4.Chevcom is a project in process, not yet fully established.

5.Chevcom is an official member of SIGNIS, The World Catholic Association for Communication. So is CFA, the Communication Foundation for Asia in Manila.  (Grants for audiovisual projects can be available through SIGNIS in Africa, Asia and the Pacific,)

6.CFA is the principal Chevalier Family Centre for communications training and production.

7.Can Cor Novum in Issoudun or in programs around the world held by Cor Novum contribute to formation of media ministry, mission and spirituality?

8.Some steps for developing Chevcom:

  • A decision by all leaders in the Chevalier Family that Chevcom be the principal means for the development of Chevcom.
  • Information needs to be gathered from members of the Chevalier Family who are involved in media activities and ministry (lay, sisters, brothers, priests).
  • This information can be the basis for a series of networks for particular media activities.
  • A goal is to build an on-line database containing information on all Chevalier Family publications (past and present), music and visual arts, audiovisual productions (radio programs, interviews, film, video, DVD, Powerpoint, YouTube clips...) with links to where they can be found (and bought) so that resources be more available and shared.
  • A goal is to establish sites or utilise existing sites to provide information and links to other sites so that already existing material need not be made again.
  • Older missionary films and photos can be digitised through the TV desk of SIGNIS.  (The MSC General Conference 2007 and the Generalate of the FDNSC have agreed to this in principle.)
  • Peter Malone is ready to be a focal point for Chevcom.  Until now, this has been voluntary work, without budget (except for annual membership of SIGNIS), that needs some confirmation.

9.It is hoped that during 2009, several areas/provinces will be contacted to follow through the development steps for information on personnel, publications and productions.  These areas can serve as models for further contact of provinces/areas in 2010.  (Possible areas for 2009 are Australia
